1200-1300 century dress

Long blue dress 12-1300 century

This dress is sewed directly after the personal pattern. It has a lacing at the back, and are made out of pure linen.

Because it was my first try to make a medieval dress, some of my dreams of a dress with big sleeves is left. I later found out that it was not so practical, when you try to reach something on a dinner table.

Lacin at the back

The back is laced from the waist and up. A little tip is to sew a little extra piece of cloth behind the lace. This will make you able to eat, or grow bigger in the dress. You can loosen up a little moore without the dress looking to small.

Extra piece of cloth

This is what the inserted piece of cloth looks like. It is inserted behind one of the sides of the back.

Glued ends of string

Well the string has it´s chapter of it´s own. Of course the string starts to go apart when you try to make it go into the small holes of the lacing.

Well well there is hope!

Put the end of the string into glue, let it dry, and you will have a harder end of string that is easier to handle.

The hem around the hole

To make a hole for the lacin by hand takes a little time. So I will give you a little idea.

Start to make the hole. Always sew to the left. Make a little loop of thread at the edge of the hole, in wich you put the nedle thru. Automaticly it will become a nice hem around the hole that will be strong enough for any wearing and tearing
