Renaissans dress

The dress

The bodice is cut off, right under the bust, and the neckline is much lower at the front. The bodice is made from the personal pattern, and cut in two pieces at the front, because of the lacing that goes down a little bit at the skirt. The skirt is made in two pieces at the front, because it is easier to make the lacing then. But only one piece at the back. The back piece has a longer middle part that becomes the train of the dress.

Sleeve

The sleeves are made from an ordinary sleeve pattern. The upper part is attached to the dress with two straps from the shoulder. The lower part is also attached with two straps between the upper and the lower sleeve parts. Make sure that the straps is in the middle of the front and a tiny bit forward, because if the straps are more at the back they will probably burst when you bend your arm.

Sleeve pattern

I made the pattern for the sleeves from an ordinary sleeve pattern.

Lower part of the sleeve

The sleeves are embroidered with pearls and has golden strings and straps. The lower part of the sleeve has lining material that is heavy and more like wool bacause. I wanted it to stay put to the arm, and not have a life of it´s own. The lower part of the sleeve is tied around the arm whith the goldstrings.

Chemise with long sleeves

The secret of getting "puffy" sleeves is to do a much longer sleeve on the chemise, wich is worn under the dress.
